The First International Krishna West Festival will take place from July 21-24, 2017 at ISKCON Nova Gokula in Pindamonhangaba, Brazil. The purpose of the festival is to advance the ancient knowledge of India and its practical application in the West, by discussing strategies for presenting Krishna consciousness in an accessible manner for Western audiences, in accordance with the purposes of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness).
There will be four days of educational, ecological, cultural, and artistic events, featuring classical music, dance, and art exhibitions. Every night there will be musical performances by various musicians, including The Voice's semifinalist Pierre Edel (Premamaya das).
In the main tent, the festival will host an ongoing educational forum to discuss philosophy, human development, and Krishna consciousness, led by academics from around the world. The keynote speaker is H.D. Goswami (Ph.D. Sanskrit and Indian Studies, Harvard University), the prominent author and spiritual teacher who established ISKCON Nova Gokula over 40 years ago.
There will also be several literary events, such as book launches, poetry readings by writers from the APL (Academia Pindamonhangabense de Letras), author round tables, as well as various writing workshops.
